Ganttry vs Buildertrend

Buildertrend is an all-in-one platform for running a building business — sales and CRM, estimates, invoicing, a client portal — and its Schedule tool is part of it: a Gantt view with linked tasks, a critical path and a baseline. Ganttry does one job: the CPM schedule, the crews and the plan across your projects, at $20/user/month with every feature on every license.

What this page rests on: Buildertrend offers demos, not trials, so this comparison is from Buildertrend's published documentation, September 2026 — its help center and product pages, each claim sourced and dated. We haven't used Buildertrend hands-on.

HOW IT'S PRICED
$20 vs a quote

Buildertrend prices each business by custom quote — by builder type, annual revenue and needs — with unlimited users and projects. Ganttry's price is on the website: $20 per user per month, every feature included.

THE SCHEDULING
Both link tasks

Buildertrend's Schedule links tasks with lag and lead, shows the critical path and compares against a baseline. So does Ganttry. The difference is what surrounds the schedule — a whole building business, or crews and projects planned together.

WHO SEES THE PLAN
Portals vs crew links

Buildertrend shares the schedule with subs and clients through its portals. Ganttry sends crews a link that needs no sign-in, and they keep seeing the last published plan while you rework the next one.

What Buildertrend costs

Buildertrend doesn't publish prices. It quotes each business by builder type, annual revenue and needs, and every plan includes every feature, unlimited users and unlimited projects. You answer a few questions about your business, then Buildertrend's team goes over your quote on a call.

Buildertrend
Custom quote billed annually or quarterly

Every feature from day one, with unlimited users and projects. No price on the website and no free trial — Buildertrend offers personalized demos instead, and the quote comes from its team.

From Buildertrend's published documentation, September 2026: its help center articles and product pages. Where Buildertrend is the stronger tool, the table says so; a row its documentation doesn't settle either way is left off.

Where Buildertrend still wins

•It runs the whole business. Sales and CRM, estimates, bids, purchase orders, invoices and payments live beside the schedule, and schedule items tie into change orders, invoices and the job-costing budget. Ganttry only schedules.
•Clients in the loop. Invite clients to follow the schedule in Buildertrend's client portal — every detail, or a phase-level overview.
•Unlimited users and projects. One contract covers your whole team, and subs and vendors are invited to free accounts. Ganttry licenses each person who signs in.
•Subs confirm their dates. Send a sub a confirmation request and they confirm or decline the task; assignees can be notified of date changes by text, email or push.
•Works without Wi-Fi. Buildertrend's mobile app keeps the schedule updated and accessible in the field with no connection. Ganttry's app needs a signal.
•Calendar sync. Schedule items sync to Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar.

Where Ganttry pulls ahead

✓A price you can read. $20/user/month on the website, a 14-day trial and card checkout — no quote and no demo call first.
✓The whole CPM engine. Four constraint types, negative float, and monthly statusing against a real data date, on top of the linked tasks, lag, lead, critical path, float and baselines both tools have.
✓Crews keep the published plan. Rework the schedule in Draft while crews still see the version you last published. Buildertrend's Offline mode hides the schedule from trades until you share it.
✓The plan across projects, by resource. Both tools show every job's schedule in one view and warn when someone is double-booked; Ganttry's Master plan also lays several projects out by resource on one time axis.
✓Crews planned by trade. Roster & equipment keeps the company's people and machines by trade, and Crew planning shows each day's crew needed against the crew you have.

Start fresh, or from a P6 or MS Project file

Ganttry imports Primavera P6 XER and MS Project XML — the logic, lags and calendars come through — and re-imports monthly updates in place. It exports MS Project XML, PDF, Excel and CSV. It has no Buildertrend integration — if your business runs on Buildertrend, Ganttry is a separate tool for the schedule and the crews.
