Smartsheet is a genuinely excellent work-management platform — a flexible grid with forms, automations and dashboards that much of the construction industry already touches somewhere. What it doesn't do is the rest of a construction schedule: constraints aren't supported in Smartsheet, working days are one setting per sheet, and a sheet holds one baseline. Ganttry does all of that: constraints, per-task calendars and five named baselines, at $20/user/month with every feature on every license.
Smartsheet Pro is $9 — but per Smartsheet's pricing grid, baselines start at Business ($19, 3-member minimum). At that tier the money is nearly identical; the engines aren't.
Smartsheet highlights and filters the critical path, its ISCRITICAL formula flags the rows on it, and its TOTALFLOAT formula returns each task's float (its docs note it works with single predecessors). But constraints aren't supported in Smartsheet, and working days are set at the sheet and account level. Ganttry schedules with four constraint types and per-task calendars, with early and late dates and float on every task.
Ganttry imports Primavera P6 XER and MS Project XML — dependencies and calendars come through, and re-imports update in place. Smartsheet's own docs warn MS Project constraints are unsupported on import — and XER isn't on its import list.
Smartsheet's published tiers are honest and self-serve — no reseller maze here. The catch is which tier your scheduling features land in, and the resource-management add-on that isn't included in any of them. Prices below are billed-yearly rates as of September 2026.

Talk-to-sales territory. And on Business and up, full resource management is Resource Management by Smartsheet — a separately priced add-on (Pro can't add it); the plans themselves include only lighter workload tracking.
Compared against Smartsheet Business — the tier with baselines, and the one a scheduling team would actually buy. Green means it's included at the tool's quoted per-license price.
We won't pretend there's a dramatic savings story here: a 5-person team pays $1,140/yr on Smartsheet Business and $1,000/yr on Ganttry. The question isn't the sticker — it's what the dollars buy. On Smartsheet that money buys a work-management platform with a Gantt view and a calculated critical path. On Ganttry it buys what that leaves out: constraints, per-task calendars and five named baselines, on every license.

Export your Smartsheet project to Excel and drop it into Ganttry — the CSV/Excel importer has mapping presets, and re-imports update in place. If the schedule originally came from MS Project or P6, skip the middleman and import the XML or XER directly. Either way you keep talking to the Smartsheet world: Ganttry exports styled Excel, CSV, vector PDF and MS Project XML.
