Home

Home is your starting page — your projects grouped by favorites and recent use, your notifications, and the cheat sheet.

Home is the first page an office account sees when it signs in. It lists your projects the way you use them — the ones you starred and the ones you opened most recently — with your notifications and the cheat sheet beside them. It is built for getting back to work quickly.

Where to find it

Click Home at the top of the sidebar, click the Ganttry logo at the left of the top row, or press Ctrl+H. Home needs a signed-in account.

The page head and the action bar

The page head carries one button, + New project, and a line under the title that says what the list covers — your company and how many projects, for example Northline Civil · 2 projects.

Under it sits one row of controls:

  • The search box. Press / anywhere on Home to jump to it. It filters as you type, by project name, company or who last updated it, ignoring capitals and accents. While you search, the groups flatten into one Results list.
  • Sort ▾ — Last opened by me, Recently updated, Name A–Z, Status, or Company (only while the Company column shows). The same menu holds Favorites first and Show archived. Your choices are saved to your account and follow you to other devices.
  • ★ Favorites first — a one-click toggle for the same setting, on to start with. Favorites sit above your recent projects and at the top of search results. Turn it off to put Recently opened first.
  • Import… brings in a schedule file (see Importing a project), and Projects opens the Projects page.
  • Inbox shows or hides the pane on the right, with your unread count.

The project table

Projects are grouped under headings that stay in view as you scroll:

  • Favorites — star any row by clicking its ★, or select it and press s.
  • Recently opened — up to six projects you most recently opened in the schedule, the open one first. Looking at a project's Work or Calendar view does not count, and a starred project shows under Favorites instead.
  • Other projects — everything else. It reads All projects when nothing is starred, recent or archived, and it splits by company when you belong to more than one.
  • Archived — shown only with Show archived on.

The columns are Name, Status, Tasks, Last opened, Updated (who and when) and Company, which appears only when your projects span more than one company.

Each row ends with ⋯, the row's menu: Open, Make a copy…, Save as a project template…, Move to group…, Rename…, Archive (or Unarchive) and Delete…, as far as your account may — see Opening and managing projects. Right-clicking a row opens the same menu. With every project archived, the table says so and offers Show archived.

Use the keyboard to move through the table: ↑ and ↓ move, Enter opens the project, s stars it, and . or Shift+F10 opens its menu. The strip at the foot of the page shows the counts — 12 projects · 3 favorites, or 4 of 12 match "bridge" while you search — and these key hints.

The Inbox pane

The pane on the right holds three sections:

  • Notifications, unread first. Click one to mark it read and jump to its project. Mark all read sits at the top of the section when something is unread, and View all… at the foot of the list opens a longer list in its own window.
  • Recent changes by others — what teammates saved. It starts collapsed; Show ▾ opens it, and Home remembers your choice.
  • Cheat sheet — collapsed, at the bottom. Show ▾ opens the same short how-to card the site publishes, with its own search box. Open on ganttry.app opens the cheat sheet page, Full manual opens this manual in a new tab, and 🖨 Print / PDF builds the two-page printable card: commands on page one, every keyboard shortcut on page two. Its first page's header gives both addresses, ganttry.app/cheatsheet and ganttry.app/docs.

Your first visit

When your only project is the sample project Ganttry creates for you, Home shows a Start here band: "This is a sample project. Try making a few changes. When you're ready:" followed by Open the sample, New project, Import a project… and Read the cheat sheet. It goes away once you have projects of your own. See Creating a project.

Who can use it

Anyone who works in the office with a company account — an Admin or Editor — and partner staff. A Field account signs in to My tasks instead and never sees Home. See Who can see and do what.

Good to know

  • Home has no account section. Your profile, password, keyboard shortcuts, help and Sign out are in the avatar menu at the right end of the top row, and company settings open from the sidebar's Company row. See Getting around.
  • If you have no projects yet, Home says so and offers Import… beside the new-project button; without the right to create projects, it asks you to contact a company admin.
  • On a phone, the Inbox becomes a strip you can open above the table, and Import… and Projects fold into a ⋯ menu. Each row keeps its own ⋯.
  • File ▾ → Open project… (Ctrl+O) opens Home in its Open a project mode: the search box has the keys, recent projects come first, there is no Inbox, and ← Back to the schedule returns. It lists the projects of every company you work in, grouped by company. Without an account it is the only Home there is.
  • Every key Home supports is on the keyboard shortcuts page.
