Work, My tasks and Calendar
Work, My tasks and Calendar are where crews run the plan, on a phone, a tablet or a desktop, and report progress without touching the schedule.
Three pages carry the plan to the people doing the work. Work is one project's task list for its crews. My tasks is your own assignments across every project. Calendar lays every project on a month or week. All three work on a phone and a tablet as well as a desktop, and progress you report there never rewrites the schedule.
On a phone or tablet
On a tablet, the three pages sit in the identity row at the top: My tasks, Work and Calendar for a Field account. On a phone, a bar along the bottom of the screen carries the same tabs, so you can switch with a thumb.
On a narrow screen or a touch device, each page's row of controls shrinks to icons and then to a single ⋯ button. The side pane starts closed (open it with its toggle), and rows grow tall enough to tap comfortably. On a phone, a task opens in a sheet that slides up from the bottom, and the Calendar's month grid becomes a day-by-day list.
Install it as an app
On a phone or tablet, in a signed-in session, the work pages offer Install app. On Android it installs Ganttry like any app; on an iPhone or iPad it shows how to add Ganttry to your Home Screen. The installed app opens on My tasks, always loads fresh over the network, and shows an offline page when there's no signal.
Work
Every project has a work view: open the project's Work tab. For an Active project, Work view on the Projects page, or w on the project there, also opens it. Its head reads Work, with the project's name and Open schedule.
- The action row has a name filter (press
/), Status ▾, Mine and Table or Board. Board is a kanban board: drag cards between status columns. There Status ▾ is grayed out, because the columns are the status filter; tap or click it and a note says so. - Tasks group under their top-level phase and carry a work status: To do, In progress, Blocked or Done. Status and percent complete move together: Done means 100%; reopening a done task steps it back to 99%; Blocked stays put below 100%; starting a task stamps its actual start with your local date.
- Click a task to open it in the side pane: its Status, % complete, Remaining (days), notes, a checklist, link attachments and assignees, picked from the company roster or typed in. Beside the list, the pane stays in view and scrolls on its own, and each task you pick opens at its top.
With no task selected, the pane shows the project's summary, including a TODAY ON SITE block with the notes shown to crews for the whole project and for today. When the project has a site address, the pane shows it under the task. See Draft and Publish for day notes.
Crew and equipment on a task
A task that needs crew or equipment shows a Resources section in the pane, with a count such as 2 of 3 filled. Each requirement has + Assign person or + Assign machine and the people or machines already filling it. A chip marked ⚠, a person shared with another task through shared coverage, and a line that ends in ?, such as 2 Laborer?, each explain themselves when you point at them. On a touch screen, tap the name or the line and its sentence opens under the row, or above it when there is no room below; a ? line's sentence is Still to find. It only fills or unfills what the task already asks for: requirements themselves are changed in the editor (see Crew planning and Equipment on tasks). A foreman can staff a task from here without opening the schedule. Field accounts see the same section read-only.
People are counted by the day. Someone booked on only some of a task's days fills it on those days alone, so a crew line reads its fewest-staffed day, such as 2 of 3 filled · unfilled on 1 of 5 days, and their chip names their days, read-only, such as Worker 015 · Mon–Tue. + Assign person here books a person for the whole task. To book by the day, Admins and Editors in a connected company use Change days on People →, which opens the People page with this task selected; it isn't offered on a student's copy or a class board in Training.
Below Resources, Tools needed lists what the crew should bring. Admins and Editors add tools with its Add a tool… field and remove them with ✕; Field accounts read the list. See Equipment on tasks.
My tasks
My tasks (the sidebar's My tasks row) lists your assignments across every project you can see. Group them by Project or Due date, filter with Status ▾, and use Hide done. Click a task to open it in its project's Work page, already selected.
- A TODAY card at the top of the side pane previews your Day plan for today and the Day plan's next day. That day is headed
TOMORROW, or the weekday's name, such asMONDAYon a Friday. Each day lists the projects you are on that day. Under each project come its notes for crews that day (two lines, then tap to read the rest). Then come the tasks you are booked on, each with its dates and that day's crew and equipment lines. On a day a planner keeps you on a project with no task, it says so, such asOn Bridge 12 · no task. A day shows at most 8 tasks; a project that loses some to the limit says how many under its tasks, such as+2 more. Tap a task to open it in its Work page; Day plan → opens the whole plan. If the card can't read the Day plan, it keeps what it last showed and saysThe Day plan didn't load. This card may be out of date. - Day plan opens your work day by day; see The Day plan.
- The side pane counts your tasks by status (click a count to filter), lists Projects with old dates, and holds your Notifications.
Calendar
The Calendar (the sidebar's Calendar row) lays every project on a Month or Week grid, with a color per project, status filters and Mine. A project whose list may be out of date shows Old dates on its Week row and in the legend; tap or click the words to read why. Today and the ‹ and › arrows move through time. Click a task to open it in its Work page. The side pane lists the selected day's tasks and a project Legend where you show or hide projects. Beside the month it scrolls on its own, and a day you pick opens it at its top. The Calendar prints cleanly with your browser's print command.
A Field user's day
A Field account is built for crews. It signs in straight to My tasks and sees its company's or group's projects with the money side taken out: no task costs, no contract time, no dollar figures in the narrative. From Work, My tasks and the Calendar a Field user reports progress (percent complete, status, remaining work, checklist ticks and link attachments) but never changes a project's structure. The editor, Home's Open a project page, Projects, Reports and Roster & equipment stay out of reach. A Field account has no sidebar: its identity row carries My tasks, Work and Calendar, and on a phone the bottom bar carries the same three. A Field account uses a full license.
Who can use it
Work and the Calendar are there in every session, local mode and the demo included; there the Calendar shows the open project. My tasks, Mine and Install app need a connected company. Admins and Editors reach the same pages from the sidebar and the project's tabs, and can change assignees from the task pane; Field accounts report progress only. See Who can see and do what. Anyone without an account follows the plan through a crew link instead.
Good to know
- Everything you change on these pages saves only that change, never the whole project, and refreshes every open tab at once.
- Your Table or Board choice, whether the pane is open, and how you group My tasks and the Calendar follow your account between devices.
- My tasks and the Calendar read a list of tasks the app keeps up to date as projects are opened and saved. A project that hasn't been opened since its last save shows an Old dates hint rather than quietly stale dates; tap or click it to read "This list may be out of date. Open this project's Work view to refresh it."
- If the connection stalls, My tasks, the Calendar and the TODAY card stop waiting after 30 seconds and say so — for example
Could not load your tasks — check your connection, with Retry — rather than load forever. - For a Draft project, crews read dates and status from the plan they were last published.
- Work and My tasks don't print; use the Calendar, the Day plan or a report.
- My tasks still lists each task's own crew line; the shared count of a coverage set shows on the Work page's task pane.
